01 — The story
The old keyboard
John's dad was a typist at the magistrates' court in Leeds. For 30 years, he typed other people's words. Their names. Their troubles. Their stories.
Never his own.
At home, on the kitchen table, he kept one old keyboard. Every evening, with the rain on the window and a cup of tea going cold, he let little John press the keys. "Steady, son," he'd say. "Every key matters."
John grew up and taught himself to code on that same keyboard. The letters wore away. The 3 key got stuck. His dad fixed it with a hairpin and gave him a wink. "There. Still works. So will you."
The year John got his first proper job, his dad fell ill. In the hospital, he asked just one thing:
"Have you made something with your name on it yet?"
John said, "Not yet, Dad."
He passed away that winter.
Weeks later, John sat at the kitchen table, at the old keyboard. He typed one word, for every key his dad had ever pressed:
Then he held Shift, pressed the old stuck 3, and typed a number. Not a date. A place. A way to say: I made it, Dad.
That night, Keystroke was born.
"Every key matters."

?How spots work1 wallet · 1 spot · 3 levels
Your wallet can hold only one spot. There are 3 spots. Each one is better than the one before it.
Spots, from lowest to highest
- Level 1 · Day 2FCFS
- Level 2 · Day 4Hairpin Pass
- Level 3 · Day 6GTD (FREE)
- FCFSDay 2First come, first served. Spots are limited, so claim early.
- Hairpin PassDay 4A guaranteed spot. If you already have FCFS, the Hairpin Pass takes its place.
Waitlist Day 4 · same day as Hairpin PassWhen every Hairpin Pass is taken, you can join the line. If a Hairpin Pass becomes free, the first wallet in line gets it.
- GTD (FREE)Day 6The best spot. If you have FCFS or a Hairpin Pass, GTD (FREE) takes its place.
Easy rule: you can only move up. A better spot always replaces the one you have, and you can't go back down.
